Many Hats

Last Tuesday, I was sitting in the bleachers at the final volleyball game of the season before playoffs. My sister and I were messaging about a variety of topics when she sent me one on a lighter note and told me to read the bottom. The game was about to start, so I told her I’d be back after it finished.
Well, the game finished, I went home and put one kid to bed, picked the other one up from school after she got back from the game, and then we had our post-game counseling time. Before I knew it, I was exhausted and ready for bed. I had completely forgotten about my sister’s text.
My alarm went off at 5 a.m., and I looked at that message. My sister and niece had been discussing running a marathon next fall! How had I missed the excitement? I definitely responded that morning, and my sister replied that I wear many hats.

Isn’t that the truth! Taxi driver. Cheerleader. Teacher. Mom. Wife. Runner. Counselor. Cook. Housekeeper. Laundress. Exterminator. Thistle remover. Blogger. Podcaster. Christian. And that’s just the start of the list.
Life is packed with different responsibilities, and some days it feels like I’m switching hats every few minutes. I wouldn’t trade most of them, but I might need to work on keeping up with my text messages!
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed,
do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Colossians 3:17
Now I’m wondering if I’ll have to dust off my marathon hat and join my sister and niece next fall!
